Traditional cleaning methods only remove dirt mechanically by water and tension active components, but some dirt can remain in the pores of the surfaces.
Disinfectants act mainly on the surface and bacteria survive only to repopulate again. This is why steam is by far a superior cleaning method in 99% of the cases.
